President of Tajikistan opens new subjects of FEZ "Sughd"

The President of Tajikistan opened today an industrial exhibition in the free economic zone "Sughd".

26 industrial enterprises of northern Tajikistan, including three working in the FEZ, presented their products at the exhibition.

In addition, with the participation of the head of state in the FEZ "Sughd" three new entities were commissioned: the Turkish company Silcoat Boyaya for the production of paints, the Star Plast company for the production of plastic pipes of different diameters and the Ravzana plastic enterprise for the production of plastic Windows and doors.

According to the administration of the free economic zone, in the first quarter of this year in the FEZ industrial output was increased by more than 3 million somoni. The volume of attracted investments for this period was 1.75 million US dollars.

The source noted that the main efforts of the administration during the reporting period were aimed at implementing measures to attract new investments, commissioning new industries on the basis of registered entities, creating new jobs, establishing new ties with business circles of foreign countries, attracting new subjects of FEZ, On the development of draft amendments and additions to the current legislation of the country, improving the legal framework for the activities of free economic zones.

In the first quarter of 2012, the official delegation of the Administration of the Altai Territory, representatives of international organizations such as UNDP, Hilfswerk Austria International, OSCE, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Netherlands to the Republic of Tajikistan visited the free economic zone "Sughd".

For the first quarter of 2012, more than 40 letters of cooperation proposals were sent, both on existing project proposals and for the opening of representative offices and new enterprises on the territory of the free economic zone "Sughd".

In general, during the first quarter of 2012, more than 90 meetings and negotiations took place, both in the administration itself and outside it.

Anvar Yakubov, Head of the Administration, with the assistance of the US State Department, took part in the international training program International Visitor Leadership in the United States, and familiarized and studied the experience of American companies and government agencies engaged in supporting and stimulating business development and attracting investments.

In January 2012, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the administration of the FEZ "Sughd" and the administration of the FEZ "Leilek" (Kyrgyzstan). On the basis of the signed memorandum, the parties intend to cooperate in the field of information exchange in the economic development of the two FEZs, joint search for partners for the implementation and financing of innovative projects in production in the territory of the FEZ "Sughd".

In February 2012, on the basis of a memorandum of cooperation with Austria's Helfsverk International, a protocol was signed on the development of the "Concept and formation of a food cluster in the territory of the FEZ" Sughd ".

Currently, draft memorandums on cooperation between the Administration of the FEZ "Sughd" and the TAM / BAS EBRD Business Support Program in Tajikistan, with the Administration of the FEZ "Bishkek" of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan and the consulting company "JK Group" of the Republic of Kazakhstan have been prepared for signing.

With the assistance of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan, the first Collection of Regulatory Legal Acts of the FEZ "Sughd" was issued, which has already been distributed to the subjects of the free economic zone, entrepreneurs and investors, as well as to the administration staff.
